The incidence and species spectrum of weeds in sugar beet change depending on used tillage. Field trial is situated at expertimental station Žabčice (MENDELU). The locality belongs to corn production area (CPA). Seven-step crop rotation was used in this research: gourd alfalfa (Medicago sativa) - the first year, alfalfa wheat - the second year, winter wheat
(Triticum aestivum), maize for grain (Zea mays), winter wheat, sugar beet (Beta vulgaris), spring barley (Hordeum vulgare). Three variants of tillage are consistently applied to each crop within the seven-step crop rotation. Conventional tillage (CT), minimum tillage (MT) and no-tillage (direct sowing, NT) are used. CCA analysis (Canonical Correspondence Analysis) was used for statistical evaluation of data. Thirty one weed species were observed in growths of sugar beet in monitored years 2013 and 2014. Chenopodium album, Fallopia convolvulus and Persicaria lapathifolia were the most common species on the variant of conventional tillage. Echinochloa crus-galli and Amaranthus sp. occurred mainly on the minimum tillage variant. Notillage variant was weedy predominantly by perennial species (Cirsium arvense, Convolvulus arvensis) and some annual species (Capsella bursa-pastoris, Polygonum aviculare). Reduced tillage used during establishing of sugar beet growths leads to higher weed infestation.
